Guado al Tasso 0.75
Region:Bolgeri DOC Superiore
Varieties:Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot & Cabernet Franc & Petit Verdot
The manor takes its name from a curious fact: in Guado al Tasso, timid badgers (“tasso” in Italian) can sometimes be seen crossing fords (“guado” in Italian) in streams. Guado al Tasso is located about 50 miles southwest of Florence near the medieval settlement of Bolgeri in the Upper Marema. The estate, some 2,500 acres, stretches from the Tyrrhenian coast to the hills inland where, set on stony, slightly chalky soils, the vines are grown. The first vintage of Guado al Tasso was produced in 1990. The wine is aged for 18 months in oak and a further 10 in bottle.
Tasting characteristics:
On the nose the initial balsamic aromas are followed by ripe fruit and herbs, The body is velvety with soft tannins and plenty of finesse. The finish and aftertaste are well supported by savory, mineral notes and plenty of length and persistence. The wine is ordered after prior inquiry about the vintage.
