In the 18th century, the monks produced very high quality olive oil and wine on the ancestral lands of Montserrat Abbey. One day containers full of olive oil mysteriously disappear. According to legend, it was the angels who took this precious booty back to heaven.
Purgatori’s production is limited to 360 bottles per year and each one is numbered.
Purgatori is a high quality extra virgin olive oil produced from Picudo, Rojal, Farga and Arbequina olives using only mechanical procedures.
The Purgatori, Farga and Picudo olives are hand-picked and cold-pressed. The oil is slightly bitter, with an intense green nose.
Olive oil Torres 0.5l 2020 shows distinctive notes of tomato, fig wood and aromatic herbs such as fennel, thyme and savory. The taste shows a slight characteristic bitterness.
Olive oil Torres 0.5l 2020 won a gold award at the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition in 2021 and is included in the Official Index of the World’s Best Olive Oils.
