Antinori Haras de Pirque Galantas 2016
Region: Maipo Valley
Variety: Cabernet Franc
Antinori Haras de Pirque Galantas 2016 represents the maximum expression of Cabernet Franc in the Maipo Valley in the Andes. A wine capable of expressing the characteristic vitality, elegance and finesse of this unique terroir.
The grapes are sourced from Haras de Pirque’s organic vineyards located in the Maipo Andes Valley at over 2,300 feet (700 meters) above sea level. Here Cabernet Franc manages to express to the maximum its important potential, much helped by the cool nights at the foot of Andres.
The four separate parcels of Cabernet Franc and Carmenère vines are fermented separately in stainless steel and French oak tanks. The cold pre-fermentation maceration lasts three to five days and aims to fully extract the aromatic components of the grapes.
After fermentation, which uses only spontaneous yeasts, the wine goes into 60-gallon French oak barrels where it is aged for a period of fourteen months.
Antinori Haras de Pirque Galantas 2016 shows a ruby-purple color, and the nose expresses hints of graphite along with dark berries such as blueberries and blackberries. The taste is soft, elegant, fresh and mineral. A wine capable of showcasing all the character of the Maypo Valley of the Andes. Suitable for combination with grilled red meats, aged cheeses, beef burgers and steaks.
