Torres Celeste Verdejo 2021
DO Rueda is located in the central zone of the drainage basin formed by the Duero river and the high plateau, whose gentle undulating topography is subject to the Atlantic winds.
DO is between 700 and 800 metres above sea level and extends over areas in the provinces of Valladolid, Segovia and Ávila. The topography, gravelly soils and continental climate make it an ideal region for the production of white wines, especially of the Verdejo variety.
Think of Verdejo as a fuller-bodied and more flavorful Sauvignon Blanc. The luscious and mellow character with perfectly balanced acidity means Rueda wines pair well with seafood, fresh salads and spicy food, but are also great on their own.
Celeste Verdejo is a modern wine, fresh and intensely aromatic. The vineyards owned by the estate, near the Duero River, are farmed with great care and respect to give this wine greater complexity and to highlight the character of the variety from this particular zone in DO Rueda.
Torres Celeste Verdejo 2021 is made from vineyards owned by an estate in Villafranca del Duero, in particular from vineyards near the left bank of the Duero River, where the valley foothills begin their gentle waves and picturesque meanders. Here the river is at its widest and most turbulent.
The combination of location, orientation and chalky soils – gravelly clay soil and river bed stones – enhance the expression of the Verdejo variety, amplifying its flavours.
Torres Celeste Verdejo 2021 has a brilliant, transparent, pale golden colour. Highly aromatic nose showing varietal notes of fennel and green almond with white floral nuances. Silky and firm on the palate, with fine, elegant acidity giving great length.
A wonderful aperitif, it is also ideal with seafood, fresh or fried fish and goes great with salads.
