Vrachanski Misket is an old indigenous white grape variety from Bulgaria, one of about one hundred local varieties in the country. Vrachanski Misket has been cultivated mainly in North-Western Bulgaria and Hungary but there are vineyards, planted with it also in Romania and Ukraine. This is an aromatic, perfumed grape with distinctive character that is able to produce fresh white wines and dessert wines due to the high acidity. There is a growing interest of Bulgarian wine makers to using local varieties and Vrachanski Misket is definitely under the radar.
