Maison Les Alexandrins Côte-Rotie 0.75 2019
Region : Northern Rhône
The wines of Côte Rôtie have a long history. Even before 2000, the Latin authors Martial, Pline l’Ancien, Columelle and Plutarque called them “Vin Viennois”. During the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, the wines further enhanced their reputation and were served at royal tables in England, Russia, Prussia and France. Vineyards peaked in the 1890s. During the phylloxera many vineyards were abandoned, and during World War II the crisis deepened. Only in the 1960s was there a return to the vineyards.
