Maison Les Alexandrins Côte-Rotie 0.75 2019
Region : Northern Rhône
The wines of the Côte Rôtie have a long history. Even before 2000, the Latin authors Martial, Pline l’Ancien, Columella and Plutarque called them “Vin Viennois”. During the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, the wines further enhanced their reputation and were served at royal tables in England, Russia, Prussia and France. The vineyards reached their peak in 1890.
During the phylloxera, many of the vineyards were abandoned, and during World War II, the crisis worsened. Only in the 1960s was there a return to the vineyards.
