Zöbinger Kogelberg Grüner Veltliner Kampthal 0.75 2020
Region: Kamptal
Variety: Grüner Weltliner
The winery is located in Zöbing, at the southernmost tip of the Kamptal wine region, overlooking Austria’s most famous single vineyard, the Zöbinger Heiligenstein. Peter Schweiger and his son, Peter Jr – who is now a fourth-generation Schweiger family winemaker – emphasize sustainable practices in the vineyards.
Three aspects are vital in producing great wines; working in the vineyard, vinification and careful cellaring. The wine labels reflect this philosophy: the compass reflects the dedication and connection to the region. The watch expresses their intention to allow the wine vital time to age.
Following this principle, the wines are never bottled before April after the harvest and only released once they have reached ideal maturity in the bottle.
Zöbinger Kogelberg Grüner Veltliner Kampthal 0.75 2020 is an accessible introduction to the joys of Grüner: classic spicy, mineral flavors tempered by some prominent stone fruit character. It pairs perfectly with Asian cuisine, sushi, grilled fish and seafood.
