Chanson Santenay 2017
Grape variety : Pinot Noir
Soil : clay-limestone
Location : The vineyards are located on the slopes of the village of Santenay, which borders Chassagne-Montrachet in the south of the Côte de Beaune.
The 2017 vintage : After a classic winter, spring started with very warm temperatures in March. April was cool and May a little rainy. The summer was warm with episodes of heat. A few late August thunderstorms brought enough water to the vines to allow them to follow their normal vegetative cycle afterwards. The harvest started at the beginning of September under very good conditions. Vinification : 2-3 weeks maceration with unstemmed grapes. 14 to 18 months aging in our 15th century cellar. Limited percentage of new casks.
Tasting : Ruby red colour. Intense aromas of ripe berries paired with spices and a hint of vanilla. Well balanced and complex. Very nice fruit combination. Silky texture and well integrated tannins. A nice length.
Serving suggestions : meat dishes with sauce or grilled, game and some regional cheese specialties (Cîteaux, Epoisses, Langres).
